Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Confronting substance use and mental health challenges is difficult for anyone — and especially for young adults trying to find their way in an increasingly complex world. Whether you’ve tried treatment before or are seeking help for the first time, it’s important to know that recovery is possible. Best of all, you don’t have to do it alone. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to provide the structure, support, and therapy young adults need while allowing for some flexibility to maintain or take on new responsibilities.
What is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?
An IOP is a form of treatment that allows individuals to receive a high level of care and support for substance use and mental health challenges while enjoying some flexibility outside of treatment hours. Unlike residential treatment, where clients live at a facility, IOP offers the opportunity to take on new challenges in one’s personal, academic, or professional life while attending structured therapy sessions several times a week. Therapeutic sessions range from 9 to 15 hours a week, depending on each individual’s needs.
IOP for Young Adults
IOP is a great option for young adults who need more care than traditional outpatient therapy or counseling — but don’t require the intensity of a full-time residential program. Through a combination of evidence-based treatments, compassionate care, and a welcoming community, Monument Recovery helps clients navigate the challenges of building a new life, with a balance of structure, flexibility, and support. We offer:
Comprehensive, Evidence-Based Treatment
Overcoming substance use and mental health challenges requires more than just willpower; it requires targeted, effective care. The Monument Recovery IOP is grounded in evidence-based therapeutic approaches proven to help young adults heal. From Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing and more, all of our programming is designed to address the root causes of substance use. We also utilize holistic therapies such as mindfulness, yoga, and art therapy to promote healing of the whole person. This integrative approach allows clients to process underlying trauma, develop healthy coping skills, and learn new ways to manage stress — all while building a life in long-term recovery.
Tailored Care for Young Adults
Young adulthood is a unique and challenging phase of life — especially when substance use and mental health issues are involved. We specialize in treating young adults who are struggling to find balance in their lives, offering age-appropriate therapy that focuses on the specific challenges young adults face. We help clients learn how to navigate relationships, build independence, and manage career or academic pressures, sometimes for the first time.
Flexible Scheduling
As young adults begin to build their lives, commitments like school, work, or family responsibilities begin to crop up. That’s why our IOP is designed with flexibility to accommodate this process. We offer day and evening sessions, so clients can participate in treatment while maintaining and rebuilding other areas of their lives. This balance between recovery and everyday life is crucial to helping integrate the tools clients learn in treatment into their daily routines. Clients practice new coping strategies in real-time, helping build confidence with accountability.
Individualized Treatment Plans
The team at Monument Recovery takes the time to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to every client’s specific needs, strengths, and goals. What’s more, every treatment plan will evolve over time as clients make progress or encounter setbacks. We regularly review all treatment plans internally and with clients to ensure that all care remains relevant and effective. Our goal is to empower clients with the tools, resources, and support necessary for long-term recovery and success.
Community Support
Recovery happens in community. At Monument Recovery IOP, clients are surrounded by peers who understand what they’re going through, and who offer empathy, encouragement, and accountability. Group therapy is a core part of our program, providing a safe space to share experiences, learn from others, and develop a sense of connection and belonging.
Life Skills Development
Building a life in recovery also requires practical skills. We offer workshops and psychoeducation on time management, job skills, financial literacy, and more, so clients can build a healthy, independent life in recovery.
